Description:

From author Angeline Hawkes-Craig: El Reptil Rey is loosely based on the real life disappearance of my great Aunt Elizabeth Joy Palmer. The photo used on the cover and within the book is of Elizabeth at the age of 18. She was quite a looker. She really lived in California, really tinted photos, and really gambled in Mexico. The details about the purse and the letter are factual.

Elizabeth went missing in 1932 when she was around the age of 40. My great grandmother and her father contacted the early offices of the FBI and attempted to find her, but by then the case had gone cold. I spent two years trying to gain access to old files through the FBI through the new Freedom of Information Act, and although several agents were very helpful and went out of their way to assist, it turned out the files had been destroyed. All that was left was an acknowledgement that there had been an open, unsolved Missing Persons case on Elizabeth and the date and place the case was filed. The disappearance of Elizabeth Joy Palmer may never be solved.

"In El Reptil Rey, Angeline Hawkes-Craig has managed to capture all the fun and dread of watching Universal's classic mummy movies on Saturday afternoon TV. You don't want to miss it!" --Steven E. Wedel, Author of Call to the Hunt

"A highly personal and bone-chilling story. Angeline knows how to bring her characters, and her monsters, to life." --Jason Sizemore, Editor-in-Chief, Apex Digest

"In El Reptil Rey, Angeline Hawkes-Craig takes us on a welcome detour from the world of vamps, werewolves, and ghouls and dumps us squarely in the middle of Old Mexico where Mayan gods still have the power to make humans tremble and suffer. This story would definitely make me think twice about taking a trip south of the border." --Jason Brannon, Author of Winds of Change

"Angeline Hawkes-Craig is a writer to watch. She writes a fast paced story filled with fascinating characters and taking place in exotic locales. Her work never fails to entertain. Watch out for Angeline, she's a writer on the move." -- Robert Weinberg, Author of The Black Lodge

"Angeline Hawkes-Craig's writing is vivid, evocative, and a pleasure to read. I have enjoyed her works for a long time." --Janrae Frank, Author of The Dark Brothers of the Light
